Representative Robb Blasdel Highlights New Round of Demolition and Site Revitalization Grants
State Representative Monica Robb Blasdel (R-New Waterford) today announced that the Ohio Department of Development has released guidelines for the latest round of funding through the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, which helps communities tear down unsafe and vacant structures to prepare sites for future development.
More than $20 million in funding is available statewide. Applications will open October 29 at 10 a.m. and close November 19 at 5 p.m.
“This program is an important tool for communities working to remove blighted and unsafe buildings,” said Rep. Robb Blasdel. “These investments make neighborhoods safer, strengthen property values, and open the door for new housing and business opportunities.”
The Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, part of Governor Mike DeWine’s Ohio BUILDS Initiative, provides funding to counties to help eliminate vacant and deteriorated commercial and residential structures. Approximately $230,000 in grant funding will be reserved for each of Ohio’s 88 counties, with funds available until July 1, 2026.
These projects have transformed abandoned and unsafe sites into areas ready for redevelopment, contributing to local economic growth and improved quality of life.
The Department of Development will also host a webinar on October 22 at 10 a.m. to review the program guidelines in detail and answer questions from interested applicants.
