COLUMBUS – Speaker of the Ohio House Matt Huffman (R-Lima) and Senate President Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) today announced that Bill Rowland has been selected as the new Director of the Ohio Legislative Service Commission (LSC) upon the retirement of Director Wendy Zhan, effective Friday, November 7th, 2025. Additionally, Julie Rishel has been named the new Assistant Director of LSC.

Speaker of the Ohio House Matt Huffman (R-Lima) today announced that legislation updating Ohio’s marijuana laws and addressing the issue of intoxicating hemp passed with bipartisan support through the Ohio House of Representatives. Senate Bill 56 preserves the legal, adult-use marijuana provisions approved by voters in Issue 2 in 2023, while also adding needed protections for Ohio’s children.

Speaker of the Ohio House Matt Huffman (R-Lima) today announced that Representative Don Jones (R-Freeport) has accepted an appointment from President Donald Trump to serve in the U.S. Department of Agriculture as State Executive Director for the Ohio Farm Service Agency and will be resigning from his seat as state representative of the 95th Ohio House District, effective June 1, 2025. Rep. Jones will begin his work with the USDA on June 2.
