Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced Friday that the state will award $114 million in grant awards to support 70 critical water infrastructure projects in 58 counties. The grants are part of the fourth round of the Ohio BUILDS (Broadband, Utilities, and Infrastructure for Local Development Success) water infrastructure program. Since its establishment, the program has provided a more than $360 million to support 253 local water projects impacting every county in the state.

The Village of Wellsville celebrated Memorial Day with a ceremony at the Melvin Newlin Memorial Chapel at Springhill Cemetery. During the ceremony a military jet flew over and Wellsville High School Class of 2023 Co-valedictorians Brooklyn Brophey and Conner Hooper gave readings. There were several speakers, the Eternal Flame was lit and Jennifer Harris performed several patriotic musical selections. There was also a dedication of the revised highway sign honoring PVC Melvin E. Newlin to recognize his status as a Medal of Honor recipient.
