House Democratic leadership urges governor to veto GOP bill that would slow pandemic response and make Ohioans less safe

House Democrat leaders, led by Minority Leader Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) today sent a letter to Governor DeWine urging his veto of Senate Bill (SB) 22, controversial legislation that would threaten the health and safety of Ohioans by curbing authority from the governor and health director during public health crises. Democrats voted in unison against the measure during House session Wednesday. It passed on party lines.

House Democrats applaud passage of consumer protection bill; renew call for full repeal of HB 6

Assistant Minority Leader Kristin Boggs (D-Columbus) and Rep. Kent Smith (D-Euclid), the top Democrat on the House Public Utilities Committee, issued statements Wednesday on the passage of House Bill (HB) 128, legislation to repeal parts of HB 6 from the 133rd General Assembly (GA).

House Dems oppose GOP bill that would slow pandemic response and make Ohioans less safe

House Democrats today voted in opposition to Senate Bill (SB) 22, controversial Republican legislation that would threaten the health and safety of Ohioans by curbing authority from the governor and health director during public health crises. Every Democratic lawmaker voted against the bill.

Rep. Robinson Introduces Bipartisan Legislation to Improve Ohio's School Report Card System

State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) and State Rep. Don Jones (R-Freeport) today introduced legislation that would improve Ohio’s school report card system. The proposed legislation would make several changes to Ohio’s current report card system with the intent to change the current system from one of flawed metrics and punitive measures to one that provides a document that schools, parents and communities can understand and use to properly assist when making improvements to a school.
