Rep. Hall Announces $500K for Akron-Peninsula Road Multi-Use Trail

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Derrick Hall (D-Akron) today announced that the Ohio Controlling Board approved one item under the Department of Natural Resources’ Clean Ohio Trail Fund for a combined $500K to build the Akron-Peninsula Road Multi-Use Trail and improve outdoor recreational opportunities for locals.
“The Akron-Peninsula Road Multi-Use Trail project is an empowering step towards making Akron a more walkable city. Over 5,800 residents of nearby housing will be able to safely commute to local businesses, and neighboring communities will have a beautiful place to safely walk, bike, and run. I look forward to visiting the finished project!” said Rep. Hall.
The Akron-Peninsula Road Multi-Use Trail will be nearly a mile long and ten feet wide, running along the west side of the Akron-Peninsula Road. This project serves as a safe way for residents to walk or bike to the Towpath Trail and local businesses in the Merriman Valley. The City of Akron plans to begin construction in 2026.
