House Bill 538 seeks to provide additional resources to the Ohio Athletic Commission by placing it within the Ohio Department of Commerce

(COLUMBUS)—House Bill 538 (Callender, A. Mathews) this week received sponsor testimony in the House General Government Committee, announced Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review (JCARR) Chair Jamie Callender (R-Concord) and JCARR member Adam Mathews (R-Lebanon). House Bill 538 seeks to strengthen the Ohio Athletic Commission (OAC), formerly the Ohio Boxing Commission, by providing the resources necessary to accomplish its expanded role for both athletics and agents.  

 
 

State Representative Brian Hill (R-Zanesville) today announced the Ohio House’s passage of Substitute Senate Bill 75, legislation that promotes agritourism activities and protects providers of agritourism from civil liability in the situation that injuries occur during agritourism activities. The bill was heard in the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, which Rep. Hill chairs.

House Bill 351 allows distilleries to serve liquor in single serving portions

Today the Ohio House passed legislation allowing Ohio craft distilleries to increase its manufacturing limit from 10 thousand gallons to 100 thousand gallons annually.

 
 

COLUMBUS—State Representatives Kevin Ritter (R-Marietta) and Christine Cockley (D-Columbus) today announced that the Ohio House passed House Resolution 227 – a measure urging the United States Department of Justice to expedite the connection between the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) databases.

 
 

State Rep. Mike Odioso (R-Green Twp), along with State Rep. Crystal Lett (D-Columbus), introduced Connie’s Law, which strengthens economic independence and workforce participation among Ohioans with disabilities by modernizing eligibility for the Medicaid Buy-In for Workers with Disabilities Program and the Ohio Workability Program. Under Connie’s Law, individuals with disabilities who are employed will have more flexibility in how their income is evaluated when determining Medicaid eligibility. This legislation allows $20,000 of an individual’s income—earned, unearned, or a combination of both—to be disregarded, ensuring that workers with disabilities can stay in their careers and build financial stability without fear of losing critical health coverage.
