Ohio House Passes Bill Designating the "Tuscarawas Valley Memorial Highway"

State Representatives Kevin Miller (R-Newark) and Jodi Salvo (R-Bolivar) are pleased to share that the Ohio House of Representatives recently passed House Bill 213, legislation designating a portion of Interstate 70 in Etna Township, Licking County, as the “Tuscarawas Valley Memorial Highway.”
The designation honors John Mosley, Katelyn Owens, Jeffery Worrell, Dave Kennat, Kristy Gaynor, and Shannon Wigfield, 3 students and 3 chaperones from Tuscarawas Valley High School who lost their lives in a tragic crash on November 14, 2023.
House Bill 213 ensures their memory, and the strength and unity of the Tuscarawas Valley community, will be permanently recognized. The Ohio Department of Transportation will install markers identifying the memorial highway.
“Designating a portion of interstate 70 in Licking County as the Tuscarawas Memorial Highway will ensure the lives lost on that tragic day will never be forgotten,” said Representative K. Miller.
“Naming this stretch of highway in memory of Wyatt Mosley, J.D. Worrell, Katelyn Owens, Shannon Wigfield, Kristy Gaynor, and Dave Kennat is not just a sign on the road. It is a pledge that we will never forget them.” Said Representative Salvo, “Their loss forever changed their families, friends and our community, and this roadway naming stands as a permanent tribute to their memory.”
The bill now moves to the Ohio Senate for consideration.
