The remarkable thing Sherrod Brown keeps doing that most politicians would never bother with
Regarding the June 17 letter from Dennis Lambert, “Brown’s handwritten note to me regarding a previous letter”: As a frequent Letter to the Editor writer myself, I can totally identify with Mr. Lambert’s feelings about Sherrod Brown.
However, the handwritten letter he received is not an anomaly. I’ve received several such handwritten responses from Sherod Brown in recent years (on Nov. 11, 2019; July 21, 2024; and July 17, 2025).
I also received a nice note from State Rep. Sean Brennan of Ohio House District 14 on March 5, 2024.
In contrast to Brown and Brennan, both Democrats, it seems that our Republican legislators act more like “performance artists” than people-centered representatives.
My old history professor at John Carroll University (Donald P. Gavin) often said that “discussion and debate are the best lubricants of democracy.”
