COLUMBUS, OH – State Rep. Adam Mathews (R-Lebanon) issued the following statement in response to the Ohio House voting to override the Governor’s veto of HB 68, the SAFE Act and Save Women’s Sports Act:

“From Aristotle to Aquinas, we are directed to promote and love the good, the beautiful, and the true. Instead, the Governor’s veto enables and empowers harm, disfigurement, and a lie deeply at odds with human anthropology. I proudly co-sponsored and voted for HB 68, and I am glad that the Ohio House voted to override the veto and put the safety of Ohio’s children first.” 

Today, State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon), Ranking Member on the House Primary and Secondary Education Committee, issued a statement after the Ohio State School Board of Education voted in favor of a resolution that urges local school districts to disregard a new federal rule requiring schools to investigate claims of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) today issued a statement after the Supreme Court’s conservative majority struck down Roe v. Wade, which established the right to access safe and legal abortion care in the United States.

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) commends the passage of the capital budget, House Bill (HB) 687, by the Ohio House of Representatives. The capital budget appropriates resources to state owned infrastructure, colleges, universities and school districts, as well as other community projects. The capital budget is typically passed every 2 years, with this year’s budget appropriating over $3.5 billion to counties across Ohio with $191 million being allocated to community projects.

COLUMBUS, OH – State Rep. Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland) has issued the following statement on the Ohio House of Representatives voting to override Governor DeWine’s veto of House Bill 68, the SAFE Act and the Save Women’s Sports Act:

“This is a vote to protect women and children.  We must protect our children from making life altering decisions at such an early age – decisions that they will never be able to reverse.  Moms and dads always need to be a part of these critical decisions,” said Miller. “When it comes to women’s athletics, this vote ensures that females can compete on a level playing field, and not against biological males.”  

The veto override now heads to the Ohio Senate for consideration.

COLUMBUS— The Ohio House of Representatives today voted to override Governor DeWine’s recent veto of House Bill 68, announced State Rep. Monica Robb Blasdel (R-Columbiana County).

Robb Blasdel issued the following statement regarding the vote:

“Today, we’ve taken a vital step towards protecting children and upholding the integrity of women's sports in Ohio. I voted to override the Governor's veto on House Bill 68, which includes the SAFE Act and the Save Women's Sports Act. I commend my fellow members in the House for their unwavering commitment to advocating for the well-being of children and families.  I look forward to our colleagues in the Senate doing the same.”

The veto override now heads to the Ohio Senate for consideration.

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) issued a statement today following the passage of House Bill (HB) 99, Republican legislation that would allow teachers and staff to be armed in schools without adequate training or safe storage requirements.

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) and the House last week voted in favor of his bipartisan legislation House Bill (HB) 497, which would remove the state mandated student retention provisions of the Third Grade Reading Guarantee (TGRG). The bill also only requires students to take the third-grade English language arts assessment (ELA) once per year, but maintains the remediation provisions or support programs for struggling readers that are part of the TGRG.

COLUMBUS – State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Ashville) today made the following statement in response to the Ohio House overriding Governor DeWine’s veto of House Bill 68, the SAFE Act and Save Women’s Sports Act, which he co-sponsored.
