CINCINNATI, OH — State Rep. Ashley Bryant-Bailey (D-Cincinnati) today joined local and national leaders at a press conference to condemn the violence and reaffirm support for access to essential health care services following an arson attack on a Planned Parenthood health center in Cincinnati.

The press conference, organized by Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio, brought together Congressman Greg Landsman, CEO Nan Whaley, PPSWO Assistant Medical Director Gwynne Perry, and Mayor Aftab Pureval at the Hamilton County Courthouse to address the attack and its broader implications for reproductive health care access.

"An attack on a health care center is an attack on our community," said Rep. Bryant Bailey. "This was not just vandalism - it was a deliberate act of violence meant to intimidate patients and providers. And it did not work."

Despite the attack, the Cincinnati health center resumed operations the following morning, ensuring that patients continued to receive care without disruption.

Rep. Bryant Bailey emphasized that the facility provides a wide range of essential services beyond abortion care, including cancer screenings, prenatal care, and birth control.

"This clinic provides care. This community needs that care. And we're not letting this nonsense interfere with people getting the care they need," added Rep. Bryant Bailey.

Rep. Bryant Bailey also highlighted the broader climate of escalating threats against reproductive health providers nationwide and called on elected officials to take responsibility for inflammatory rhetoric.

"When extremist rhetoric becomes extremist action, that is on all of us to condemn - loudly and without equivocation," continued Rep. Bryant Bailey.

In recognition of Black Maternal Health Week, Rep. Bryant Bailey underscored the disproportionate impact of restricted access to care on Black women, who face significantly higher rates of pregnancy-related complications and mortality.

"When access points like this are threatened, Black women pay the highest price," added Rep. Bryant Bailey.

Rep. Bryant Bailey reaffirmed her commitment to advancing policies that protect and expand access to reproductive health care across Ohio.

"Abortion remains safe and legal in Ohio, and I will continue using my voice and my vote at the Statehouse to ensure that people in our communities can access the care they depend on," concluded Rep. Bryant Bailey.
