COLUMBUS - State Rep. Darnell T. Brewer (D-Cleveland) today released the following statement after Cleveland police announced the death of Braylon Hardges, a 14-year-old boy who was shot and killed last Sunday:

"Again, we mourn the loss of a life cut short by gun violence. Braylon was destined for greatness as a football player, son, friend, and student. Thoughts, prayers, and rallies are not enough. We must move to stop this epidemic. As his family seeks justice in this matter, we seek answers," said Rep. Brewer. “I am committed to ensuring that gun violence is addressed in our city and our state. It is a public health crisis.”

“He was an awesome kid; I never had any problems out of my baby. That’s why I don’t understand. Why? I just want to ask why? We need to take action and stop the violence within our city. Please keep our family in your prayers during this time,” said Seaerra LeFlore, Braylon Hardges’ mother.
