Rep. Brewer Continues to Call for Awareness in Gun Violence Epidemic in the "Greater" Cleveland Area
COLUMBUS- State Rep. Brewer (D-Cleveland) today recognizes and brings awareness to the gun violence epidemic.
“I will continue to recognize and bring awareness to the gun violence epidemic that devastates countless children, families, and communities daily. I have previously sought funding in the recently passed State of Ohio budget for a youth violence and prevention program. I have even written a letter addressed to Ohio’s Governor Dewine and Ohio’s 135th General Assembly asking to convene a statewide “Gun Violence Task Force'' and I also introduced and supported common sense gun safety measures like safe storage, background checks, minimum age standards, and “red flag” laws,” said Rep. Brewer. “Instead of being a silo, we must be a fist in the fight back and put Clevelanders first. Cleveland wants leaders and politicians in power to “work together” to keep “Greater” Cleveland safe from gun violence. Our thoughts and prayers are no longer enough. I, along with others, will continue to use our platform here in the 135th General Assembly to promote legislation that will keep communities safe and urge everyone to join us in this effort.”
