Rep. Brewer Celebrates Black Maternal Health Week

COLUMBUS- State Rep. Darnell T. Brewer (D-Cleveland) released the following statement today marking Black Maternal Health Week:

"It’s time for men to support women’s issues, especially when it comes to Black maternal health,” said Rep. Brewer. "We must work to shine light on the inequities that exist in Ohio when it comes to preventing pregnancy related deaths. Legislation that funds doulas through Medicaid is just a step in the right direction. As men, we must fight for Black women’s voices to be heard, so that all women can experience quality health outcomes. 

Black Maternal Health Week runs April 11th to 17th, and the theme is Our Bodies Belong to Us: Restoring Black Autonomy and Joy.
