June 20, 2023
Darnell T. Brewer News

COLUMBUS- State Rep. Darnell T. Brewer (D-Cleveland) today announced over $14,500 has been allocated for mosquito control in Cuyahoga County. The funding will help mitigate the spread of mosquito-borne viruses such as Zika, West Nile, and La Crosse Encephalitis.

“Mosquitos can be a severe problem for the most vulnerable people and can carry deadly diseases. This funding from the Ohio EPA to the Cuyahoga County Board of Health can be the difference between life and death for some individuals of District 18. I am truly appreciative of the efforts taken to keep Ohio safe,” said Rep. Brewer.

Mosquito control grants specifically target:

  • Mosquito surveillance;
  • Larval control;
  • Adult mosquito control, such as spraying where mosquito presence poses a risk to public health;
  • Community outreach;
  • Breeding source reduction, including trash or tire removal.

Constituents of Ohio House District 18 can contact Rep. Brewer’s office at: Rep18@ohiohouse.gov or (614) 466-1414.
