Reps. Troy, Sigrist Introduce Bill to Reform PUCO Appointment Process Following HB 6 Scandal

COLUMBUS — State Reps. Daniel Troy (D-Willowick) and Mark Sigrist (D-Grove City) today introduced a bill to reform the nomination process for commissioners on the Public Utilities Commission (PUCO). Among other changes, the bill would require one of the governor’s appointments to be nominated by the Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel, an independent statewide entity representing residential utility customers.  This follows the House Bill (HB) 6 scandal, a $60 million dark money bribery scheme that federal authorities later described as “one of the largest public corruption conspiracies in Ohio history.”

Representative Troy Sends Letter to Conn Selmer to Reconsider Planned Closure of their Eastlake Plant

COLUMBUS - State Representative Daniel Troy (D-Willowick) today sent a letter to Conn Selmer officials in Eastlake, Ohio and Elkhart, Indiana asking them to reconsider plans to close their brass instrument manufacturing plant in Eastlake. The closure, scheduled for June 2026, would result in the loss of 150 union jobs in the area.

 
 
Representative Troy Announces that Poly6 Technologies, Inc. is to Open a New Facility in Eastlake, OH

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Daniel Troy (D-Willowick) Monday announced the approval of a Poly6 Technologies, Inc. facility to open in Eastlake, Ohio. This new Lake County location will create an estimated 164 new jobs for the area and generate $10.5 million in new annual payroll revenue. At its Monday meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.597% nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
