State Representative Richardson Releases Statement on the US-23/I-71 Connector Study

State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) today released the following statement regarding the US-23/I-71 connector study.
“It has come to my attention that there are some questions and concerns regarding the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) US-23/I-71 connector feasibility study. Although this would not necessarily impact District 86, I share your concerns and want to detail how this process works.
Funding for this study originated from a Senate amendment included in Ohio’s State Transportation budget, which included funding for the study, not the actual construction of the bypass.
First, ODOT will conduct the study, which includes gathering public input, and you may do so by submitting your comments here. All input recorded before April 14, 2026, will be included in an official report sent to the Senate President, House Speaker, and Governor.
Second, the Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC) will evaluate the project, looking at the efficiency, safety, cost, and overall impact of the proposed project. To learn more about TRAC’s evaluation process, click here.
Finally, after TRAC issues its recommendations, the Ohio General Assembly may consider whether to fund the project or not. This would most likely not take place until 2027 for the next State Operating Budget process.
I hope this information helps clarify the process and outlines your opportunities to be involved. Your input is an important part of this conversation, and I encourage you to make your voice heard.”
