COLUMBUS – State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) has introduced legislation to recognize high school students entering a university ROTC program or a military service academy upon graduation with a Military Enlistment Seal on their diploma.

The legislation currently only recognizes students that have enlisted into the Armed Forced or have been in JROTC as eligible to receive the seal. Richardson’s legislation will provide more parity in recognizing all students that have demonstrated a willingness to serve the nation.

“This legislation is correcting a simple oversight from when the requirements for the Military Enlistment Seal were created,” said Richardson. “These talented students have committed to serve our Armed Forces after furthering their education and deserve the same recognition for their commitment.”

Richardson is joined by State Representative Jessica Miranda (D-Forest Park) as a primary sponsor of the legislation.
