COLUMBUS –State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) announced the release of nearly $1.5 million for renovations to Bryson Hall at Marion Technical College.

“Marion Tech has more than 50 years of history providing students with higher education that helps expand Central Ohio’s technical workforce,” said Richardson. “I’m pleased the state could grant the college’s request to make significant improvements to the campus that will help further the student’s educational experience.”

Bryson Hall is a 44-year-old, single-story academic building located on the college’s Marion campus, which it shares with The Ohio State University of Marion. The building is used by the college for administrative and faculty offices, student lounge, classrooms and laboratories.

The funds, which stem from a capital improvement appropriation out of the Higher Education Improvement Fund, will be used to make the building more student friendly, develop a student service center, provide sufficient office space for faculty and administrative staff and update corridor finishes. Along with the improvements, the college will also increase the safety of the building by installing a building-wide fire alarm system.

The $1.5 million, a capital appropriation through the Higher Education Improvement Fund of the 133rd General Assembly, was allocated through the Ohio Controlling Board on Monday.
