State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) today hosted the Veterans and Military Development Committee meeting at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, followed by a tour of the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

The meeting and tour involved presentations from the 88th Air Base Wing of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, 178th Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard, The Air Force Museum, and other community organizations. As part of the visit, representatives learned more about the unit’s organization, general mission and base priorities, as well as any challenges or issues that the General Assembly and the Veterans and Military Development Committee can help support.

“Many veterans call Ohio home, and it’s a priority to ensure their voices are heard,” said Speaker of the Ohio House Matt Huffman. “I applaud Representative Richardson and the rest of the committee for taking meaningful steps to support our veterans and military communities across the state with this traveling committee.”

“It was my honor to chair a meaningful and informative meeting. The decision to conduct the Committee on location at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force stems from our united commitment to listening, learning, and supporting the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base,” said Rep. Richardson, Chair of the House Veterans and Military Development Committee. “The visit reflects our dedication to making Ohio a stronger and better place for our armed forces and their families; all veterans; and our military defense economy.”

“Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is not only a cornerstone of our national defense, but also a vital part of our local economy and innovation community,” said State Rep. Ty Mathews, Vice Chair of the Veterans and Military Development Committee. “I am proud to stand with my colleagues in supporting new military development initiatives that will strengthen our defense capabilities, create good-paying jobs, and ensure that Wright-Patt remains a global leader in aerospace and technology for generations to come.”

“Today’s traveling committee meeting was another great success, helping us continue our efforts in supporting Ohio Veterans all across the state,” said Representative Derrick Hall, Ranking Member of the Veterans and Military Development Committee. “I look forward to future visits and committee meetings to learn how we can better support our veteran and military communities.”

Today’s event is part of a statewide ‘traveling committee’ initiative led by Rep. Richardson. The goal of this initiative is to give the committee firsthand insight into the priorities and concerns of Ohio veterans by engaging directly with communities across the state. Rep. Richardson expressed thanks to all who assisted in making the opportunity possible, including the National Air Force Museum and the Dayton Development Corporation.
