Rep. Brennan: Issue 2 Will Create Jobs, Fix Countless Community Projects
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (Parma) today released the following statement concerning Issue 2’s resounding passage by Ohio’s voters:
“I was pleased to join my Republican and Democratic colleagues in a bipartisan effort of co-sponsoring the joint resolution to put this issue on the ballot,” said Rep. Brennan. “I am proud of its passage with overwhelming support and applaud Ohio’s voters. It will create good-paying jobs and strengthen infrastructure in Parma, Parma Heights, and Cleveland - the communities I proudly represent.”
Passage of this issue extends the authorization for the state to issue bonds to address local infrastructure needs for another ten years. There is no tax increase involved in this issue, as the State of Ohio underwrites the cost of these bonds out of existing state revenues.
Issue 2 is an extremely beneficial partnership between the state and our local governments to help address essential infrastructure needs and has created an estimated 35,000 quality construction jobs in the process.
Ohioans first voted for the program as a lawmaker-backed constitutional amendment in 1987 and have since renewed it four times.
