Rep. Brennan Introduces Bipartisan Bill to Honor Medal of Honor Hero with Memorial Highway

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (D-Parma) today announced that he has introduced bipartisan House Bill (HB) 607, legislation to designate a portion of State Route 94 (State Road) in Parma, as the “Specialist Fourth Class Frank A. Herda, Medal of Honor Recipient, Memorial Highway.” Rep. Mike Dovilla (R-Berea) is joining as joint sponsor of the bill.
Specialist Herda, a Parma native, was selected to receive the Medal of Honor for his extraordinary bravery during the Vietnam War. On June 29, 1968, he risked his life to save fellow soldiers by shielding them from an enemy grenade blast-an act of selflessness that exemplifies courage and devotion to duty. He passed away in 2023.
“Frank Herda is a true Ohio hero,” said Rep. Brennan. “Naming this stretch of State Route 94 in his honor ensures that his courage and sacrifice are never forgotten by the community he proudly called home.”
The legislation allows the Ohio Department of Transportation to install suitable markers along the highway to commemorate Specialist Herda’s legacy.
HB 607 is awaiting House Committee assignment.
