Rep. Brennan Completes Prestigious Henry Toll Fellowship

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (D-Parma) today announced his completion of the Council of State Governments’ Henry Toll Fellowship, one of the nation’s premier leadership development programs for state government officials.

Rep. Brennan said the fellowship offered a rare opportunity to engage directly with legislators and state officials from every region of the United States.

“The Henry Toll Fellowship is one of the most respected leadership programs in the country, and it brings together an elite, bipartisan group of rising leaders committed to solving problems with respect and civility,” said Rep. Brennan. “At a time when politics can feel more divided than ever, this experience reinforced the importance of listening, working across the aisle, and leading with humility. I am grateful for the opportunity and eager to bring these lessons back to Ohio.”

Throughout the intensive program, fellows participate in workshops and simulations focused on strategic decision-making, crisis management, consensus-building, ethical leadership, and communication. The curriculum is intentionally structured to push leaders out of their comfort zones and build the emotional intelligence necessary to govern effectively.

Rep. Brennan emphasized that the fellowship’s bipartisan nature is one of its defining features.

“Every policy challenge we face-whether in Ohio or nationwide-requires leaders who are willing to collaborate,” continued Rep. Brennan. “This fellowship brought together Democrats, Republicans, and independents who all share one goal: serving the public with integrity. That spirit of cooperation is something I will continue to champion in the Ohio House of Representatives.”

The Council of State Governments has administered the Henry Toll Fellowship since 1986, and its alumni include governors, legislative leaders, constitutional officers, and judges across the country.

For Rep. Brennan, the experience further solidifies his commitment to leading with respect, strengthening relationships across the aisle, and delivering meaningful results for the people of Ohio.
