Rep. Brennan Applauds General Motors' $250M Investment in Parma Facility

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (D–Parma) today celebrated General Motors’ announcement that it will invest $250M into the GM Parma Metal Center.
“This is a transformational investment for our community,” said Rep. Brennan. “General Motors’ commitment shows that Parma is not only a key manufacturing hub today, but a core part of the company’s long-term strategy. This decision protects good-paying union jobs, supports our tax base, and positions northeast Ohio to grow as a national leader in advanced manufacturing. This is a major victory for Ohio workers, Parma families, and the future of American manufacturing.”
The $250M investment is expected to:
- Modernize and expand operations at the Parma facility;
- Protect existing manufacturing jobs while positioning the plant for future growth;
- Strengthen Ohio’s supply chain and global manufacturing competitiveness; and
- Boost the local economy and support surrounding businesses.
Rep. Brennan emphasized that collaboration among the city, state, and General Motors will be critical to ensuring full economic benefit from the investment.
“Announcements are important, but execution is what changes lives,” continued Rep. Brennan. “I am committed to working with GM leadership, local workforce partners and state officials to make sure this investment translates directly into more jobs, more training pathways and more opportunity for Parma residents.”
Rep. Brennan also highlighted the role of Parma’s workforce in securing the investment.
“Our skilled and dedicated workers at UAW 1005 are the reason that Parma keeps winning,” said Rep. Brennan. “This investment is a powerful endorsement of their talent and the pride that goes into every shift at the GM plant.”
Rep. Brennan will continue to advocate for policies that strengthen Ohio manufacturing and protect workers. He plans on requesting a community update briefing with GM leadership to provide further details on timelines, hiring needs and projected workforce impacts.
“This can’t be the finish line — it needs to be the beginning,” concluded Rep. Brennan. “We must build on this momentum to secure more manufacturing investment across our region and our state.”
