Rep. Brennan Announces Ohio's NatureWorks Grant Funding to Parma Heights for Greenbrier Commons Playground Replacement

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (D-Parma) today announced that NatureWorks Local Outdoor Recreation Grant Program, in a continued effort to promote outdoor recreation opportunities across Ohio, has successfully awarded $2,967,910 in funding for 76 community-based projects. This year, a total of 142 applications were received from local governments in 64 counties, requesting a total of $6,765,385 in funding. After a thorough evaluation process, these projects were selected to improve parks, playgrounds, and other recreational areas, benefiting communities statewide.

“I am pleased to announce that Parma Heights, located in my district, will receive a $150,000 grant to support the Greenbrier Commons Playground Replacement Project,” Rep Brennan said. “This funding will help the city revitalize the beloved playground, where my wife and I once took our own children to play, providing families with a safer and more accessible space for recreation.

I wholeheartedly supported this grant application, and I commend Mayor Marie Gallo and her dedicated team for their efforts in pursuing this funding. Their commitment to improving the quality of life for Parma Heights residents and enhancing outdoor recreational options for children and families is truly commendable. The NatureWorks Grant Program, which is funded through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), allocates funding using a per capita formula that divides the available dollars between Ohio’s 88 counties. The funds are intended to support local government projects that create or improve outdoor recreation areas such as playgrounds, parks, trails, and other public spaces.

“This grant will help ensure that Parma Heights remains a vibrant community with recreational opportunities for residents of all ages. I look forward to seeing the transformation of Greenbrier Commons into a renewed space where families can gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors.”
