COLUMBUS — State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (D-Parma) today announced that the Ohio Controlling Board has approved $5.7M in funding for Cuyahoga Community College’s heating and cooling replacement project at the West Campus. Rep. Brennan advocated for the project and submitted a formal letter of support emphasizing the critical role Tri-C West plays in the community and region.

The funding will allow the college to modernize aging HVAC infrastructure, improving reliability, reducing the risk of system failures, and ensuring a safe and comfortable learning environment for students, faculty, and staff.

“Reliable heating and cooling systems are essential to a functioning campus,” said Rep. Brennan. “This investment ensures students can focus on their studies, faculty can teach effectively, and the West Campus is prepared to handle extreme weather and emergency situations.”

Tri-C West serves as a vital educational and workforce development hub for Parma and surrounding communities, providing accessible pathways to high-demand careers, skills training, and higher education for thousands of students each year. Rep. Brennan noted that maintaining modern, dependable facilities is essential to preserving that mission.

“Tri-C West is an anchor institution for our community,” added Rep. Brennan. “Supporting this project is about investing in students, workers, and the future of our region.”

In addition to improving comfort and air quality, the upgraded systems will enhance campus safety by ensuring proper ventilation and climate control during emergencies, power interruptions, or severe weather events.

The project aligns with broader state and regional efforts to invest in infrastructure that strengthens workforce readiness, educational access, and long-term economic growth.
