COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sean Patrick Brennan (D-Parma), a former 30-year public school educator, last week received the prestigious “Friend of Education” Award from the Ohio Federation of Teachers (OFT)  in recognition of his steadfast advocacy for Ohio’s students, educators, and public schools.

Before being elected to the Ohio House of Representatives, Rep. Brennan spent three decades as a public educator, dedicating his career to teaching, mentoring students, and working alongside fellow educators to expand opportunity for young people.

“As someone who spent 30 years in our public schools, this recognition is especially meaningful to me,” said Rep. Brennan. “I’ve seen firsthand the dedication of Ohio’s teachers and school staff. They go above and beyond every single day for their students. I will always fight to make sure they have the resources, respect, and support they deserve.”

During his time in the General Assembly, Rep. Brennan has championed policies that invest in public schools, support career-technical and workforce pathways, and protect the integrity of Ohio’s education system. Drawing on his classroom experience, he continues to advocate for practical, student-centered solutions that strengthen local schools and communities.

The award honors legislators and community leaders who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to strengthening public education and supporting those who serve in classrooms and school communities across the state.

The Ohio Federation of Teachers represents educators and school employees throughout the state and advocates for high-quality public education for all Ohio students.
