Ohio House Passes Resolution to Establish Nurses Week in Ohio

COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives last week passed House Resolution 87, legislation to establish Nurses Week in the State of Ohio, announced State Representative Matthew Kishman (R-Minerva).

This legislation will specifically recognize the week of May 6-12, 2025 as Nurses and Health Professionals Week in the State of Ohio in honor of their invaluable contributions to the health and well-being of Ohioans, providing compassionate, high-quality care.

“I’m glad we’re showing support for Ohio’s nurses,” said Kishman. “They find us at our worst, at our most vulnerable – in veritable pieces – taking us as we are and striving to put us back together with equal measures diligence and compassion. They truly work themselves ragged for our communities, and for that, they have our thanks.”

According to the Ohio Board of Nursing, there are more than 300,000 licensed nurses and related health professionals in Ohio.
