(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – State Representative Mark Johnson (R-Chillicothe) today voted in support of Ohio’s Capital Budget bill, a two-year capital improvements budget for state and community projects throughout the state totaling nearly $4 billion.

The bill provides appropriations for state infrastructure needs, including renovations to state offices, new construction for mental health facilities, land acquisition, and equipment. The plan also includes just over $200 million for community projects, which are projects that come from outside of state agencies and have a benefit or nexus to the state.

All 88 counties will receive funding for community projects.

Rep. Johnson helped secure investments for the following community projects in District 92:

Hocking County

  • $68,300 – Logan Center for Creative Learning, Logan
  • $200,000 – Mingo Park Revitalization, Logan

Perry County

  • $75,000 – Shelly Park Improvements, Glenford
  • $150,000 – Perry County Opera House Restoration, New Lexington
  • $225,000 – Little Cities of Black Diamonds Improvements, Shawnee

Ross County

  • $75,000 – Early Ohio Governors' Monuments Project, Chillicothe
  • $200,000 – Mighty Children's Museum STEAM Expansion, Chillicothe
  • $400,000 – Ross County Fairgrounds PA System Project, Chillicothe
  • $400,000 – Ross County Historic Courthouse Roof Replacement, Chillicothe
  • $350,000 – Yoctangee Park Improvements, Chillicothe
  • $250,000 – Clarksburg Community Renewal Project, Clarksburg

Vinton County

  • $200,000 – Village of Hamden Park Revitalization, Hamden
  • $75,000 – Vinton County Health Facility Improvements, McArthur

“These investments will make a real difference in communities across the 92nd House District,” said Rep. Johnson. “From supporting our local parks, museums, and fairgrounds to preserving historic landmarks and improving public health facilities, this funding will help strengthen our communities and improve quality of life for residents throughout Hocking, Perry, Ross, and Vinton counties. I was proud to advocate for these projects and secure state support for initiatives that will have a lasting impact on our region.”

Through this bill, Ohio House Republicans prioritized investing in Ohio’s future by expanding access to education and healthcare through new facilities or upgrades to existing ones, improving parks and roadways to better connect communities, and strengthening local facilities across the state by providing necessary funding for enhancements.

This bill now heads to the Governor for consideration.
