State Representative Jodi Salvo (R-Bolivar) today announced that the application period for the Ohio Historic Preservation Credit Program is now open, according to the Ohio Department of Development. This program supports property owners and developers in transforming Ohio’s historic buildings, preserving the community’s history, and turning the buildings into community assets.

“Revitalizing our historic buildings helps retain the charm and history that define our communities,” said Rep. Salvo. “This tax credit provides a meaningful financial incentive to revitalize these properties and renew their purpose and presence in our communities.”

To be eligible to apply, interested parties must submit their Intent to Apply by August 15, at 4 p.m. The form is available online at development.ohio.gov/historic. Applicants are also required to request a pre-application meeting with the State Historic Preservation Office by 5 p.m. on July 31.

House Bill 96 – Ohio’s State Operating Budget – included an increase in funding for this program to $75 million a year, a significant investment to help local communities invest in the private redevelopment of historic buildings.
