State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) announces that funding for campus safety grants was recently approved for several colleges throughout the state, including for Bowling Green State University (BGSU) and Owens Community College (OCC) within Wood County. The program funding was approved by legislation during the previous General Assembly.

State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) encourages entities in a Wood County city to apply for the Vibrant Community Program. The program focuses on distressed communities that face hardships for implementing economic development and job creation. Ghanbari has identified one city within the 3rd Ohio House District that is eligible to apply.

“I’ve been monitoring the unfolding situation in Afghanistan very closely, and the tragic death and wounding of both American military personnel and Afghan civilians due to cowardly terrorist attacks in Afghanistan today is both heartbreaking and disturbing. As a member of the military who served in Afghanistan from December 2010 through July 2011, I grieve for my fellow service members whose lives were taken today, and pray for a full recovery of those who were wounded. My family extends our deepest thoughts and prayers to their family, friends and comrades. 

Committee assignments by the Speaker of the House provide members an opportunity to dig deeper into a variety of subject areas that may impact the constituents they serve. During this 134th General Assembly, Speaker Bob Cupp, R-Lima, assigned me to the five significant committees, two of which are the House Finance Committee and the Finance Subcommittee on Higher Education. Through service on these committees, it became quickly apparent of the need to prioritize our higher education institutions within this year’s state budget bill. With the governor’s signature on House Bill 110, I can attest that we followed through on this endeavor.

State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) announced today that Ohio’s annual sales tax holiday will begin Aug. 6 and last through Aug. 8. 

State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) supported the finalized budget package under House Bill 110, which included many measures surrounding both law enforcement and crime reduction for the state. Ghanbari is a cosponsor of the bill and serves on the House Finance Committee where the budget went through the legislative process.

State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) attended a promotion ceremony at the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Academy in Columbus Tuesday where the Patrol’s former District 1 Commander John C. Altman was promoted to the rank of major. Altman, in his new role, will serve as the Patrol’s commander in the Office of Training, Recruitment and Diversity.

State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) championed restoring the historical boiler operators license and the Historical Boilers Licensing Board that will ensure proper education, training, and implementation of public safety. Ghanbari fought for the new language and it was put into House Bill 110, which is the two-year state budget bill recently signed into law.
