Reps. David Thomas & Joe Miller Introduce Bill to Eliminate Extra Registration Fee for Hybrid Vehicles

State Representatives David Thomas (R-Jefferson) and Joe Miller (D-Amherst) introduced legislation that would eliminate the extra vehicle registration fee on hybrid vehicles. The additional $100 fee the duo hope to eliminate is charged to those Ohio drivers who have a hybrid car and is paid during registration of the vehicle or renewal.

Reps. Click and David Thomas Introduce Referendum Ability Legislation on Unvoted Property Taxes

State Representatives Gary Click (R-Vickery) and David Thomas (R-Jefferson) introduced legislation that would allow for the ability of voters to referendum and lower or eliminate Inside Millage tax amounts on property owners’ bills. HB 421 grants the authority for voters to place on the ballot a question to lower or eliminate the unvoted portions of property tax, which the sponsors say increase property tax assessments as values increase.

Rep. Thomas Votes to Override Veto, Spurring Property Tax Relief for Ohioans

State Representative David Thomas (R-Jefferson) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives voted to override the Governor’s veto of Item #66, putting into motion the beginning steps for property tax reform through a provision that encourages levy transparency and promotes responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars on the local level.

Governor Mike DeWine Signs Ohio House Bill 64 - Senior Sportsmen Fairness Act

Governor Mike DeWine signed House Bill 64, also known as the Senior Sportsmen Fairness Act, into law on July 1st. Introduced by State Representatives David Thomas (R-Jefferson) and Kellie Deeter (R-Norwalk), the new legislation lowers the age that a senior can receive a discounted hunting and fishing license from 66 to 65. This will align with the other state discounts that seniors can receive at 65.

Rep. Thomas Votes on Budget Plan that Delivers Historic Property Tax Relief for Ohioans, Implements Flat Tax

State Representative David Thomas (R-Jefferson) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives approved the conference committee report for Am. Sub. House Bill 96 –the State Operating Budget. The budget plan, which allocates funding for state programs and operations for the next two years, includes provisions that aim to protect freedom, family and fiscal responsibility – approving historic property tax relief for Ohioans, implementing a flat tax rate and providing a record amount of state funding for school districts.

Ohio House Passes Bill to 'Flip the Script' on Property Valuations

The Ohio House of Representatives recently passed “Flip the Script” legislation sponsored by State Representatives David Thomas (R-Jefferson) and Thomas Hall (R-Madison Twp.). House Bill 124 reforms how the process of valuing property in Ohio is completed during revaluation cycles, which occurs every three years to assess the current fair market value of a property.
