July 25, 2023
Daniel P. Troy News

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Daniel Troy (D-Willowick) today announced up to $7,000 per person is currently available to Ohioans with disabilities for college, training, and credentialing programs for the 2023 fall term.

“I believe that every Ohio citizen counts, and that where possible, the government should provide all of our citizens the opportunity and tools to reach their full potential. I encourage those with disabilities to consider applying for this wonderful grant opportunity to help in that effort”, said Rep. Troy.

The funding helps students with disabilities as they continue their education. All eligible college and non-traditional students with disabilities will receive up to $7,000 while participating in Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD). The money will be used for tuition or educational expenses during the upcoming fall term.

A student with a disability can receive funding by following these steps:

  1. Apply for OOD services online at OODWorks.com
  2. OOD staff will call the applicant and schedule an in-person or virtual appointment
  3. Complete the required paperwork to finalize the application
  4. OOD staff will determine eligibility and help plan the next steps

This funding builds on Rep. Troy’s advocacy and support for his constituents with disabilities. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. for Autism, a non-profit located in Rep. Troy’s district, received $200,000 in the State Operating Budget to train more professionals to administer The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Approach across Ohio. S.U.C.C.E.S.S. for Autism places an emphasis on training college students at Integrations Treatment Center in Wickliffe. The program works with several universities around the state to identify these future professionals and train them on everything they do. Additionally, Rep. Troy is looking forward to being a returning volunteer judge at the upcoming Deepwood Idol contest—a MentorCity Fest event that showcases the exceptional abilities of talented people with disabilities.
