COLUMBUS – State Rep. Daniel P. Troy (D-Willowick) announced today that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Parks and Watercraft awarded the Lake County Sheriff’s Office a $35,000 Marine Patrol Assistance Grant. The grant will provide funding for Lake County’s boating accident response system and rules and regulations enforcement efforts.

“As a Lake County Commissioner, I was always appreciative and accepting of an annual Marine Patrol Assistance Grant to assist our Sheriff’s Department in patrolling our Lake Erie shoreline,” Rep. Troy stated. “Now, as a member of the Legislature, I’m glad to have voted to continue this important funding stream that enhances waterway safety in our county.”

The ODNR Division of Parks and Watercraft instituted the annual grant program to fund the establishment, operation, and maintenance of marine patrols for local law enforcement agencies. This year, the Division awarded over $575,000 to support 23 programs throughout Ohio.
