COLUMBUS - State Rep. Daniel P. Troy (D-Willowick) announced that the State Controlling Board approved $136,000 in funding to support the Painesville Police Department's violent crime reduction efforts.

"While in Columbus, it has been important to me to ensure our Lake County Public Safety Departments receive adequate state funding. Though the state should do more, as it would reduce the need for local levies, I'm glad we could provide the Painesville Police Department with these needed dollars to address the ongoing challenges with violent crime," said Rep. Troy.

Administered by the Department of Public Safety (DPS), Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS), violent crime reduction grant funding was awarded to 18 police departments throughout Ohio. The use of the grant funding includes, but is not limited to, overtime, equipment, technical assistance, and analytical support to implement crime reduction strategies.
