COLUMBUS - Judges would have to consider the risk to public safety when setting bail for accused criminals, under legislation being proposed at the Ohio Statehouse.

COLUMBUS – State Rep D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) announces that House Bill 229 passed within the General Assembly earlier today. The legislation aids Ohio tourism by supporting the area’s campgrounds. Swearingen is a primary joint sponsor with State Rep. Shane Wilkin (R-Hillsboro).

COLUMBUS – House Bill 186, legislation sponsored by State Representatives DJ Swearingen (R-Huron) and Shane Wilkin (R-Hillsboro) passed the Ohio House by a vote of 90-0. The goal of this legislation is to help Ohioans of all ages achieve the goal of homeownership. 

COLUMBUS– State Representative D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) Thursday announced the passing of Substitute House Bill 169, which will provide a $4.2 billion federal grant to our, healthcare workers, education system, law enforcement, and first responders to ensure they can serve our communities effectively and efficiently. This federal money that has been allocated to Ohio must be distributed by the end of 2021. This bill passed by a vote of 84-6.

COLUMBUS– State Representative D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) Monday held a press conference announcing Sub. House Bill 169, of which he is a sponsor. This bill will provide $250 million in grants for law enforcement and first responders throughout Ohio. The funding will be allocated to state and local first responder agencies. Representative Swearingen was joined by law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical services personnel, and other first responders.

State Rep D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) supported Senate Bill 258 as it passed the Ohio House yesterday. The legislation encompasses the new congressional map for the state. Swearingen listened to testimony as a member of the House Government Oversight Committee, which had hearings on the bill. Swearingen spoke to the legislation on the House floor.

COLUMBUS– State Representatives D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) and Gary Click (R-Vickery) announced today the passing of House Bill 314 out of the Ohio House to address seasonal storage and usage tax for watercraft. 

COLUMBUS– State Representative D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) opposes the requested subsidy for the proposed pilot program for six offshore windmills to be built on Lake Erie. 

COLUMBUS - State Representative DJ Swearingen (R-Huron) and State Representative Andrea White (R-Kettering) had sponsor testimony today on House Bill 440 in the Ohio House Financial Institutions Committee. 

COLUMBUS – State Representative DJ Swearingen (R-Huron) and State Representative Andrea White (R-Kettering) today announced the introduction of the Ohio Gains initiative along with Ohio State Treasurer Robert Sprague. 

COLUMBUS– The House of Representatives honored the life and service of Navy Corpsman Maxton Soviak whose life was recently taken in Afghanistan. Maxton was from Berlin Heights Ohio and served his country with pride and honor.
