Rep. Thomas Announces $250k in Campus Safety Upgrades for the University of Cincinnati
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) today announced today that the Ohio Controlling Board has approved the release of $249,993.25 in state funding to support enhanced campus safety measures at the University of Cincinnati (UC).
“In an era where proactive safety planning is more important than ever, I’m proud to see the state investing in tangible improvements that help protect students, faculty, and visitors at UC,” said Rep. Thomas. “This project will strengthen campus security and give the university additional tools to respond quickly and effectively to potential threats.”
The funding, awarded through the Campus Safety Grant Program, will be used to purchase specialized security barriers from Meridian Rapid Defense Group to help secure high-traffic areas and increase emergency preparedness on campus.
The upgrades will be implemented on the university’s main campus in Hamilton County, enhancing public safety infrastructure and event security capabilities.
