Rep. Bryant Bailey Condemns the Killing of Renee Nicole Good by ICE, Calls for Accountability & an End to Unchecked Federal Enforcement

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Ashley Bryant Bailey (D-Cincinnati) today issued the following statement condemning the killing of Renee Nicole Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis:
"The killing of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent is a moral failure and a direct result of an administration that has allowed federal enforcement to operate with unchecked power. Renee was a 37-year-old U.S. Citizen, a mother, and a member of her community who should be alive today,” said Rep. Bryant Bailey. “This administration is sanctioning violence against our own residents. When federal agents act without accountability or coordination with local authorities, they endanger the very communities they claim to protect. That is not public safety. It is state-sanctioned harm."
Rep. Bryant Bailey emphasized that Renee Nicole Good's death is not an isolated incident, but part of a broader and deeply troubling pattern of violence associated with ICE enforcement.
“In 2025 alone, at least 32 people died in ICE custody, making it the deadliest year in decades. Renee Nicole Good was not the first victim, and unless meaningful action is taken, she will not be the last,” continued Rep. Bryant Bailey. “Our communities do not need unchecked federal enforcement operating without transparency or accountability. They need public safety systems that are rooted in local knowledge, responsibility, and respect for human life. ICE's unchecked authority must end."
Rep. Bryant Bailey underscored the need for justice and systemic change:
“Renee’s life mattered. Her death, and the growing list of lives lost in ICE custody, demand justice and real change. Anything less is an acceptance of violence that we cannot and will not tolerate,” concluded Rep. Bryant Bailey.
