COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bob Peterson (R-Sabina) is pleased to announce that Fayette, Highland, and Pike Counties were each recently awarded $230,000 through the Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program to tear down unsafe, blighted buildings and prepare those sites for new opportunities.

House Republicans secured $21.5 million per fiscal year in the State Budget for the program, spurring economic development across Ohio.

“Investing in the removal of unsafe and blighted structures is a critical step toward revitalizing our communities,” said Peterson. “These funds will help Fayette, Highland, and Pike Counties turn neglected properties into opportunities for growth, economic development, and a better quality of life for residents.”

The Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program was created by the 134th General Assembly and has proven successful in helping spur economic development and revitalizing properties throughout the state. Since 2021, the program has invested more than $310 million to support nearly 6,200 demolition projects across every county in Ohio.
