Rep. Somani Calls on Governor DeWine to Bring Ohio's National Guard Home, Invest in Ohio
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Anita Somani (D-Dublin) today released the following statement concerning Governor Mike DeWine’s decision to send 150 National Guard members to support the District of Columbia National Guard:
“Ohio’s National Guard primary duty is to protect the people of our state and nation. These brave men and women have helped us in times of great need, from recovering from natural disasters to restoring order during community emergencies, the Ohio National Guard has always been there to serve our state.
Now, Republicans in Ohio are bending to the will of a president who wants to use the National Guard as props in his latest political stunt. They should be in our state, serving Ohioans, but instead certain elected officials seem to be fine with wasting our service members’ time and our constituents’ taxpayer dollars on these partisan theatrics. The governor needs to call back the Ohio National Guard immediately,” said Rep. Somani.
