COLUMBUS –The Ohio Controlling Board today released funds for the First Responders Safety and Training Center located in Shelby, Ohio, announced State Rep. Marilyn John (R-Richland County).

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio House Finance Committee adopted substitute House Bill 33 this morning, announced Representative Callender (R-Concord). This adoption comes after three months of hearings, both by the full finance committee and sub committees focused on individual sections of the 4311 page bill. While no earmarks or district projects where included in the substitute bill, several projects impacting Lake County and North East Ohio where included in the legislation. 

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Bob Young (R-Green) and Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) recently introduced House Bill 152, commonly known as Madeline’s Law. The proposed legislation would require health insurers to cover the cost of hearing aids for Ohioans ages 21 and younger.

COLUMBUS –The Ohio House Technology and Innovation this week began hearings on legislation that would ban TikTok from government devices, announced bill sponsor, State Rep. D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron).

COLUMBUS – The House Ways and Means Committee heard proponent testimony earlier this week on House Bill 105, legislation that would place limits on municipal income tax late filing penalties, announced State Rep. Jim Thomas (R-Jackson Twp.).

COLUMBUS –The House Insurance Committee today passed House Bill 49, sponsored by State Representatives Ron Ferguson (R-Wintersville) and Tim Barhorst (R-Fort Loramie), which will increase hospital price transparency and reduce the cost of healthcare in Ohio.

State Rep. Tom Patton (R-Strongsville), who is Chair of the Finance Subcommittee on Transportation, led the historic transportation budget bill through the General Assembly as it was approved by both chambers on Wednesday. 

State Rep. Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland) will introduce the Baby Products Tax Exemption Bill, companion legislation to Senate Bill 39. The legislation exempts certain baby products from the sales and use tax. Miller is a joint sponsor on the bill.

State Reps. Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) and Marilyn John (R-Richland County) had their Backpack Scholarship Program bill up for a second hearing at the Statehouse this week, which drew support from dozens of students and advocates throughout the state during committee testimony.

State Rep. Mike Loychik (R-Bazetta) announces funding coming to several local fire departments within Trumbull and Ashtabula Counties. The funding is through the Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant program.
