Reps. Rader, Cockley Named Ohio Conservation Champions by Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Tristan Rader (D-Lakewood) and Christine Cockley (D-Columbus) this week announced that the Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) Action Fund has named them its Ohio Conservation Champions. This award recognizes Rep. Raders’s leadership as the ranking member of the House Energy Committee and Rep. Cockley’s continued advocacy for community health within the Agriculture Committee.
“This recognition reflects the work we’ve done together to protect our parks from fracking, safeguard Lake Erie from drilling, and keep hazardous brine off our roads,” said Rep. Rader. “These are commonplace fights for clean water, safe communities, and public lands that belong to all of us.”
“This award reaffirms our commitment to conservation efforts and ensuring we protect our natural resources here in Ohio,” said Rep. Cockley. “We will continue to put Ohioans first through legislation that reflects what our communities truly want and need, such as clean and safe water, parks, and public lands.”
The Ohio Environmental Council Action Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the environment and health of all Ohio communities through policy advocacy, decision-making accountability, and civic engagement. The Ohio Conservation Champion Award is presented to leaders who demonstrate exceptional dedication to the state's natural resources.
“We’re not finished. Progress never comes from one person or one bill. It comes from people showing up, pushing forward, and refusing to let special interests write the rules. We’re going there and it will take all of us,” added Rep. Rader.
Reps. Rader and Cockley share their optimism about continued progress toward continued progress, with a key priority being securing final passage of House Bill 399 in the House to prohibit oil and gas removal from under Lake Erie and state parks.
