Scott Oelslager News

One individual’s experience and expertise has led him to be an intricate part of the budgetary process for the 134th General Assembly.

State Rep. Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton), as Chairman of the House Finance Committee, has been the public official in the House to introduce the four budget bills: the Operating, Transportation, Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) and Industrial Commission (IC) budgets.

As it stands, the budget bills are currently the governor’s proposals as they face changes and amendments within the General Assembly.

“Given the climate of our state with the ongoing pandemic, these bills and our legislative process deserve the proper care, time and efficiency that our Ohioans deserve as we face these important decisions on our state’s finances,” said Oelslager. “I’m pleased that I can bring my background to the table, and with the support of my colleagues and staff, I know we’ll get the job done.”

Along with the pieces of legislation being introduced by Oelslager, two of the four budget bills are having ongoing hearings within the House Finance Committee - this resides under Oelslager’s leadership as Chairman of this body.

Oelslager’s extensive background in handling the states’ budgets includes serving the last two years as House Finance Chair and six years under the same role for the Senate Finance Committee.
