COLUMBUS—State Representative Scott Oelslager (R–North Canton) was sworn in to his first term as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives during this week’s session. He has previously served multiple terms in both the House and Senate. He represents the 48th District, which includes portions of Stark County.

“I am honored to once again represent the people of Stark County in the Ohio House of Representatives, and would like to thank my constituents for the opportunity to continue serving them in the Legislature,” Oelslager said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to develop policies and legislation that will strengthen our state and move it forward.”

Prior to joining the legislature, Oelslager worked as an aide for Former Ohio Congressman Ralph Regula and served as director of public relations for Malone College. Oelslager received his bachelor’s degree from Mount Union and earned his law degree from Capital University Law School.

Oelslager was appointed to the Senate in 1985, where the people of Stark County subsequently returned him for four additional terms. In 2002, Oelslager was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives, where he served as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and the Civil and Commercial Law Committee. Stark County voters once again elected him to represent them in the Ohio Senate in 2010 and 2014. From 2013 to 2018, Oelslager chaired the influential Senate Finance Committee, where he helped develop the state’s operating and capital budgets.

This week’s Ohio House session marked the beginning of the 133rd General Assembly.
