COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives yesterday passed House Bill 33, the State Operating Budget for fiscal years 2024-25, with a sweeping vote of 78-19, announced Speaker Pro Tempore, State Rep. Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton).

The House-led budget commits substantial resources to workforce development, family enrichment, and education for Ohioans of all ages. House Bill 33 is a fiscally responsible balanced budget that supports everyday Ohioans and maximizes state resources.

House Bill 33 continues to pave the way for mental health care and resources throughout Ohio. The budget creates a statewide 9-8-8 suicide and crisis lifeline. This lifeline is a critical resource to ensure individuals receive the care and support they need to heal.

“I am proud of my colleagues at the House for building a budget that invests Ohioans by way of education, workforce development, and mental health care,” said Oelslager.

Additional appropriations highlighted by Oelslager are as follows:

-          $3 million for the Financial Literacy and Workforce Readiness Programming Initiative

-          $2.2 million for the Supporting Partnerships to Assure Ready Kids Program for families with preschool-age children

-          $450,000 for the Stark Education Partnership

The state operating budget is a two-year budget that funds the operation of state agencies and programs.

The budget awaits consideration from the Ohio Senate.
