Oelslager Highlights Recently Passed Legislation

COLUMBUS—State Rep. Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton) is pleased to announce the recent passage of multiple pieces of legislation. 

Each bill is highlighted below:

  • Prohibit harassing or impeding an emergency service responder (79-18): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 20 increases protections for first responders when responding to emergency situations in an official capacity. 
  • Create the escaped convict alert program (97-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 23 authorizes law enforcement to issue regional alerts providing information on escaped convicts. 
  • Revise the practice of certified registered nurse anesthetists (96-1): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Bill 52 modernizes language in the Ohio Revised Code regarding Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Strengthen Ohio’s criminal child enticement statute (97-0): House Bill 168 addresses a long-standing legal loophole that has allowed several serious convictions to be overturned, putting children at risk and preventing justice from being served. 
  • “Avery’s Law” (97-0): House Bill 247 makes changes to the laws regarding dangerous and vicious dogs.
  • Investigate East Palestine train derailment and EPA response (97-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, House Resolution 147 urges Congress to establish a special committee to investigate the East Palestine train derailment and the United States Environmental Protection Agency's response to it. 
  • Prohibit law enforcement from using quotas for arrests, citations (96-0): Co-sponsored by Oelslager, Senate Bill 114 prohibits law enforcement agencies from using quotas for arrests and citations.
