Oelslager Highlights Legislation Passed by Ohio House

March 30, 2022
Scott Oelslager News

COLUMBUS — Wednesday, March 23, the Ohio House passed a number of proactive pieces of legislation to better prepare Ohio for matters regarding voting rights, renewable energy and rare cancer diagnoses.

“Ohio recognizes that there are a variety of industries without a clear leader, and we’re working to rise in the ranks to establish the state at the forefront,” said State Representative Scott Oelslager (R-North Canton). “The legislation passed last week lays the ground work to take advantage of those opportunities.”

Oelslager and the House voted favorably on the following measures:

  • House Bill 487, Regards ballot printing and contracts for printing ballots to ensure Ohio’s voting centers are fully stocked.
  • House Bill 434, Enacts the Advanced Nuclear Technology Helping Energize Mankind Act by establishing the Ohio Nuclear Development Authority to make Ohio a leader regarding new-type advanced-nuclear-research reactors, isotopes and high-level-nuclear-waste reduction and storage. The Authority would also position the United States to better compete with foreign clean energy sources.
  • House Bill 537, Designates Cholangiocarcinoma (pronounced kuh-lan-jee-uh-kaar-suh-NOW’-muh) Awareness Day. Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare type of cancer that forms in the bile ducts of the human body, often not diagnosed until the cancer’s late stages of metastatic cancer. With only 8,000 cases diagnosed each year, increased awareness and support for research efforts are needed.

All three bills now head to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.

The House is scheduled to return to session Wednesday of this week, March 30.
