COLUMBUS—State Representative Scott Oelslager (R – North Canton) announced today that the Ohio Controlling Board has approved the release of funds for Stark State College.

The Controlling Board approved a $693,465 appropriation to replace the roof on a building at Stark State’s North Canton campus. The roof has deteriorated beyond repair. The new roof will provide reduced maintenance costs.

The Controlling Board also approved the release of $143,333 awarded to Stark State College through the Regionally Aligned Priorities in Delivering Skills (RAPIDS) grant for the Northeast/Central Ohio Region. This grant will allow the college to purchase the equipment to establish the Electrical Circuits lab at the Akron campus to begin training incumbent workers and future workers for area businesses. The $143,333 will be used to buy meters, motors, line conditioning devices, controls trainers and related electrical laboratory equipment.

Stark State College is a public college located in North Canton, Ohio with campuses throughout Stark and Summit counties.

Oelslager serves as one of the six legislators on the Controlling Board.
