State Rep. Sarah Fowler Arthur (R-Geneva-on-the-Lake) announces that businesses across Ashtabula and Geauga Counties can apply for the Bar and Restaurant Assistance Fund. The deadline for applications is set for Jan. 31, 2021.

“With economic development and tourism so vital to our area of the state, I want to ensure our businesses are aware of the opportunities they have for available relief,” said Fowler Arthur. “Businesses and workers have been hit with unprecedented hardships by this pandemic, and I am hoping this relief can provide at least some help while we work toward a full reopening and recovery of our state’s economy.”

Fowler Arthur notes that Ashtabula and Geauga Counties have over 70 businesses that have not yet applied for the grant program. Fowler Arthur also acknowledges that her office has contacted Geauga County and is working with the Ashtabula County Commissioners to help reach out to local businesses. If businesses have further questions on eligibility, the representative urges them to reach out to her office at Rep99@ohiohouse.gov.

The $38.7 million within the Bar and Restaurant Assistance Fund will be used to help liquor permit holders that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The types of permit holders the fund applies to include bars, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, wineries, casinos, private clubs and several others.

Eligible permit holders must have an active on premise permit. Licensees must present their FEIN or SSN, liquor permit number, and address for each location at time of application. Licensees could receive $2,500 per business location.
