COLUMBUS – State Representative Sarah Fowler Arthur (R-Ashtabula) and State Representative Ron Ferguson (R-Wintersville) applaud the favorable passage of House Bill 563 out of the House State and Local Government Committee.

“House Bill 563 is a proactive bill to ensure that private property owners in Ohio retain their constitutional right to lawfully use their properties to support themselves and their families, which includes short-term rentals,” said Fowler Arthur.

The legislation will prohibit local governments from placing excessive restrictions or outright bans on short-term rentals, while still retaining the power of local governments to create regulations for the health and safety of their communities.

“Burdensome regulations and outright bans on the use of short-term rental properties are not only harmful to Ohio tourism and small business owners but are a direct violation of individual property rights and often hurt the working class most of all,” said Ferguson.

House Bill 563 now heads to the House Floor.
