COLUMBUS— State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) is calling on Ohio Board of Education Member Kirsten Hill to provide details on her involvement in organizing a bus trip to the “Stop the Steal” event Jan. 6 in Washington D.C., which led to the violent, deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol later that afternoon.

State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) today made a statement on acts of sedition as supporters of Pres. Donald Trump violently trespassed, vandalized, and occupied the U.S. Capitol, following Pres. Trump telling attendees of his nearby rally to march on Congress in opposition to certifying the presidential election results.

“Whether you call it ‘Kill at Will,’ ‘Stand Your Ground,’ or ‘Shoot First’ policy, we’ve seen in other states that it clearly leads to violence and death. The Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police and other members of law enforcement oppose laws like these because they take away a judge’s or jury’s power to evaluate self-defense, creating a loophole for people to get away with manslaughter and murder. This law will greatly decrease public safety in Ohio and disproportionately impact the lives of Black Ohioans and other people of color as victims of gun violence, with their killers now having a way to escape prosecution,” said Rep. Robinson.

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) today sent a letter to Gov. Mike DeWine asking him to not sign into law and veto Senate Bill (SB) 33, which broadens the definition and increases penalties for potential damages at protests of utilities and energy infrastructure; SB 175, which was amended to include dangerous “Stand Your Ground” provisions; and SB 260, which restricts women’s medical choices for telehealth abortion medication.

State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) yesterday voted in favor of House Bill (HB) 409, which included amendments from the Senate that suspend state report card grades for districts and other requirements for the 2020-2021 K-12 school year. These temporary changes are needed due to the uncommon school year caused by health safety measures to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) today announced the introduction of the $2.1 billion capital appropriations budget for fiscal years 2021-2022 as an amendment during the Senate Bill (SB) 310 conference committee. Cuyahoga County will be receiving over $80.6 million in capital appropriations for projects.

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Phil Robinson (D-Solon) yesterday voted in favor of the Fair School Funding Plan, House Bill (HB) 305, bipartisan legislation sponsored by Rep. John Patterson (D-Jefferson), Rep. Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) and Speaker Bob Cupp (R-Lima), that would transform the way Ohio’s schools are funded.
